Chana (Chickpea) Masala

(This is just a recipe from a box - modified to use US measurements, and saved here for my convenience. You probably can’t make this recipe unless you buy the same spice mix.)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, coarsely chopped (or 1 larger tomato)
  • 2 tbsp (15g) MDH Chana Dal Masala mix
  • 16 oz canned chickpeas
  • 1 tsp salt (to taste)
  • 1 tsp MSG (optional)

Recipe

  • Fry onions with oil, until golden brown.
  • Add tomatoes and spice mix, stir well until combined.
  • Add chickpeas, you will likely need to add some water at this stage too.
  • Cover and cook on a low heat for 20-40 minutes, to give the chickpeas time to soften.
  • Add salt and MSG to taste - you might not need them.
